Peace
As I sit outside on this balcony in Fort Worth, Texas sipping my coffee in beautiful eighty degree weather looking at green grass, clear skies and brick houses I am filled with gratitude. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to showcase my art this weekend and also to have an amazing team and family behind me. My brother will be fighting shortly before me tomorrow night, it will be our first time competing in the same event at black belt, a very special moment for us as brothers and as warriors.
After training this morning in a sweat box(no A/C) we both made weight and are now ready to head to the official weigh-in in Austin after meeting with a sponsor in Dallas. The only thing you can do at this point is make peace with everything while taking care to relax your mind and enjoy life. Calm before the storm, it’s best to understand that the hard training has already been done, there’s no need waste mental energy trying to get excited before a match. Instead, be grateful for everything while enjoying every moment for what it is. Regardless of the outcome, it will be filled with good lessons, good company and probably some of the best food the city has to offer before returning to loved ones.
