Life is a black coffee
Do you drink coffee? Chances are that you do, it’s one of the most widely consumed beverages on the planet. The coffee bean looks like nothing special from the outside. It smells good but tastes bitter, most people prefer it with milk and sugar. It’s usually served boiling hot and has likely scalded your mouth or ruined a shirt of yours, yet we love it. Shakespeare said “a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet”. We all agree that if coffee was grey it wouldn’t taste any better although we’ll likely still take the caffeine buzz.
Life, like your first taste of coffee, can come with some bitter moments. But how we respond to it is very individual. If you study success you will notice there are people who seem to understand that pain and suffering is part of life and learn to deal with it. Then there are others who believe everyone else’s life is easier and they are victims. I believe it’s important everyone reach a point in their life where they learn to accept that bad experiences can affect them positively or negatively depending on what they decide to do. Some athletes credit their success to the loss of a loved one. Some attribute the loss of a loved one to their failure. Neither is right or wrong but which mindset do you aspire to possess? What I hope you take from this is that we decide how we choose to move forward from that moment. You can blame the democratic party or the republican party or this race or that race, but at the end of the day every person is in charge of his or her self. But if you lack self belief… Good luck. I quoted Ghandi in my last post, I’ll quote him again “be the change you want to see in the world”. No matter how hard things are or how bad things get we must continue to exercise hope and faith while improving daily. Maybe after countless days of swallowing that scorching, bitter liquid will we get rewarded with a delicious caramel Frappuccino. And it will taste so so good.
